Stampin’ Up! Blessings of Home for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good Morning! December birthdays are tough, so I wanted to make a birthday card with Christmas colors. So I paired the pretty Christmas themed Fitting Florets designer series paper with the beautiful floral bouquet from the Stampin’ Up! Blessings of Home bundle. You can find the supplies I used along with card stock cuts at the bottom of my post.

We have a sketch challenge this week and here is the pretty card sketch I tried to follow for today’s card:

I adhered a panel of Fitting Florets designer series paper to the front of an Evening Evergreen card base. I adhered a panel of Soft Succulent DSP on top with liquid glue. I stamped four greenery sprays from the Flowers of Home dies from Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent and adhered them to the card front with glue dots.

I stamped the large bouquet from the Stampin’ Up! Blessings of Home cling stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a Basic White panel and cut it out with the coordinating die. I colored the flowers and leaves with Stampin’ Blends, doing some light shading with a lot of help from the stamp shading. I used Soft Succulent on the leaves, Real Red, So Saffron, Soft Suede, Fresh Freesia and Pale Papaya on the flowers. I used some light Smoky Slate to accent the shade marks on the large white flowers. I made a loopy Bow with white crinkle ribbon and cut lengthwise a length of Evening Evergreen ribbon and tied it. I adhered the ribbon to the card front with glue dots and popped the flowers on top with dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! Blessings of Home stamp set in Versamark ink on a strip of Evening Evergreen. I sprinkled it with white embossing powder and shook off the excess. I heated the powder with my heat tool until it was bright and shiny and cut the sentiment out with the long label die from the Sending dies. I adhered the label to the card with glue dots and finished the card front with iridescent pearls.

For the inside of the card, I stamped part of the floral bouquet in the lower right corner of a Basic White panel. I trimmed the side with a strip of Fitting Florets DSP and adhered the panel to the inside of the card with Stampin’ Seal.

I love how the white flowers in the bouquet pop against the Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen background. And the Real Red flowers tie into the Christmas themes while still making a pretty birthday card. I hope that this inspires you to make a handmade birthday card for your December birthdays, even though it’s such a busy time.
