Stampin’ Up! Seascape You’re the Best Card

Good Morning! Here’s a fun undersea card made with the pretty Stampin’ Up! Seascape bundle. And I made the background with the splotchy ink stamp from the Artistically Inked cling stamp set! I got this idea from my friend Karen Finkle, who made this card using the same technique – be sure to check it out! This was a fun to make and I’m so pleased with how it came out! You can find the supplies I used at the bottom of my post along with the sizes of cardstock used.

I stamped a panel with the splotchy ink stamp from the Artistically inked stamp set, using Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and Pool Party inks on a Basic White panel. I used the darker colors on the bottom getting lighter as it goes up. I used some embossing buddy on the lower corner (I was too impatient to wait for the ink to completely dry) and stamped the coral from the Stampin’ Up! Seascape cling stamp set in Versamark ink. I sprinkled it with white embossing powder and shook off the excess. I heat set the embossing powder until it was shiny. Be careful to heat the whole thing – it’s a large image with lots of coral branches and its easy to miss spots. Then I stamped the seaweed along the bottom in Old Olive and wiped off the excess ink from the embossed coral with a tissue. I finished the background by stamping three jellyfish from the Whale Done stamp set around the top in Fresh Freesia ink.

I stamped the sentiment from the Encircled in Friendship stamp set in night of Pacific Point ink on a Pool Party panel and cut it out with Messages die. Then I stamped the Artistically Inked splotchy ink stamp again in Pacific Point on a Basic White Strip and cut it out with the banner label from the Messages die. I adhered the banner to the stamped undersea background panel and adhered the panel to a Basic White mat. I adhered the stamped label to the banner and popped the whole panel onto the front of a Pacific Point card base.

I cut out the seahorse from the Sea Life dies in the Stampin’ Up! Seascape bundle from Evening Evergreen card stock, and carefully cut the seahorse outline out. Note that the die is designed so that the seahorse is not detached from the background. I brushed the seahorse with clear Wink of Stella to give it some sparkle and covered it with Shimmery Crystal Effects to make it shine. Check out the reflections in the last picture! I let the Shimmery Crystal Effects dry for an hour before handling the seahorse. I cut up small pieces of dimensionals and used them to adhere the seahorse to the card front. I colored a length of white crinkle ribbon with Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blend, made a small bow and adhered it to the card under the label. I finished the card front with three opal rounds.

For the inside of the card, I stamped the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! Seascape stamp set in Pacific Point ink on a Basic White panel. I stamped the seaweed a couple of times in Old Olive and the fish in Calypso Coral. I stamped another jellyfish from the Whale Done stamp set in the upper corner in Fresh Freesia. I adhered the panel to the inside of the card.

The seahorse from Stampin’ Up! Seascape bundle is really beautiful with all the intricate die cuts! And didn’t the Artistically Inked splotchy stamp make a wonderful background for it?

  1. Akiko ~
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this card! I’ve been cutting the seahorse from pastel colors, but, it looks terrific in the darker color. Is that “evening evergreen”?

    1. Thank you so much!! Yes it is! I tried it first in a lighter green, but the background is busy and it didn’t show up very well, so I did it in a darker color. 😊
