Stampin’ Up! Floating and Fluttering Hello Card

Good morning and welcome to Simple Stamping Saturday! Today’s card uses the Stampin’ Up! Floating and Fluttering stamp set to make a simple card with just stamped images. I use four colors of ink, three card stock colors and the beautiful two step stamp set! You can find the supplies used to create this card at the bottom of my post along with the sizes of cardstock used.

I start by stamping the large outline stamp with all the butterflies from the Stampin’ Up! Floating and Fluttering photopolymer stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I stamp it once on the lower left side of a Basic White panel, ink it up again and stamp it along the bottom. Finally I stamp it a couple of times to fill in the lower left corner. I position my stamps so that I have a graceful curve on the stamped images as contrasted to the white, and it’s easy to do with the photopolymer stamp.

Then comes the two step stamping. There are little leaf stamps that fill in the outline leaves in the Stampin’ Up! Floating and Fluttering stamp set, so I stamp all the leaves in Granny Apple Green ink. For the butterflies, each butterfly also has a solid stamp and a detailed stamp. I stamp all the butterflies in Mango Melody ink with the coordinating solid butterfly stamp and I stamp all the detail stamps in Poppy Parade. And my main panel is done – the two step stamp sets make it so easy and there are so many cute ones in the current catalogs, so look for the ‘two step’ designation.

I adhere the panel to a Granny Apple Green mat that is 1/8″ larger on both sides using Stampin’ Seal (but you could also use liquid glue if you prefer). Then I adhere the layered panel to the front of a Mango Melody card base with dimensionals. Dimensionals are foam with adhesive on both sides, so it makes your card kind of 3D. Adding a mat and popping up the stamped panel makes your card extra nice and elegant! The final step is to add the sentiment. I used the sentiment from the A Little Lace stamp set, stamping it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a skinny strip of Mango Melody card stock. I adhere the label to the card front with more dimensionals.

For the inside of the card, I carefully position the large stamp to get the large butterfly in the bottom corner of a Basic White panel and stamp it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I stamp the leaf in the top corner as well and stamp the filler stamps the same was as on the card front, using Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody and Poppy Parade. I adhere the stamped panel to a Granny Apple Green mat and then adhere both to the inside of the card.

My simple stamping tips for today –

  1. Use two step stamps to easily incorporate your favorite colors
  2. Add a mat to frame your work
  3. Pop your artwork with dimensionals

Keep it simple but elegant and the Stampin’ Up! Floating and Fluttering is a great set to start with two step stamping.
