Stampin’ Up! Artfully Layered Thank You Card

Good Morning! Two weeks ago I made a card with the Stampin’ Up! Artfully Layered bundle in my Sunday Afternoon Facebook Live and I have another one today. Today’s card is a much cleaner design but still colorful and with texture! You can find the supplies I used at the bottom of my post along with the sizes of cardstock used.

I taped a panel of watercolor paper to my work mat with painters tape, securing it all around. I used my thick water painter to wet the paper and then add Pool Party ink to give it a watercolor wash. I’m not a watercolor painter, so I tried to start small by just doing a watercolor wash. After it dried I removed the tape and wanted more texture, so I embossed the panel with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder and adhered it to a Just Jade mat with liquid glue and then to a Crumb Cake card base with dimensionals.

I cut a Pale Papaya panel of the pretty 2021-2022 In Color Shimmer vellum with the palm die cut from the Stampin’ Up! Artfully Layered bundle. I cut the detailed leaf die from Just Jade and adhered them to the card front with glue dots.

I stamped a panel of Crumb Cake with the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! Artfully Layered cling stamp set in Versamark Ink. I sprinkled it with gold embossing powder and shook off the excess. I heat set the powder until shiny and cut the label out with the Messages die. I adhered a folded length of Just Jade metallic ribbon and some gold trim to the card front and adhered the label over it with dimensionals. I finished with three brushed gold dots.

For the inside of the card, I inked up the large leaf from the Stampin’ Up! Artfully Layered stamp set with Just Jade and stamped off twice before stamping in the corner of a Basic White panel. I inked up the script stamp and stamped off before stamping over the leaf – I did this a couple of times. I adhered the panel to the inside of the card.

It’s fun to try out different coloring techniques such as water coloring. I’m inspired by all the pretty designer series papers, and starting easy with a color wash is perfect, especially when there are bold die cuts that you can use. And touches of gold are always a perfect way to step up a card!

Join me for a Facebook Live this Afternoon!

I’m planning to go live on my Facebook Page at 1:00 ET this afternoon to make a card with the Seascape bundle. Look forward to seeing you then!

Stampin’ Up! In The Moment Sneak Peek II

Good Morning! I don’t know about you, but with Christmas just around the corner and so much left to do, I am totally stressed! Plus, I’m visiting my son and his family and they’ll be moving next month, so there’s even more that needs to be done! For these times, the new Stampin’ Up! In The Moment stamp set is perfect for reminders of calmer times. You can find the supplies I used at the bottom of my post along with the sizes of cardstock used.

I found a pretty panel of the new Abstract Beauty specialty designer series paper that will be available in the upcoming January-June 2022 Mini Catalog for the background and I wanted to use a different technique to color the relaxing image from the Stampin’ Up! In The Moment stamp set – coloring it with Watercolor Pencils! Here’s how I did that. I first stamped the image on Shimmery White paper using Jet Black Stazon Ink. I colored different sections of the image with the Water Color pencils – Night of Navy for the pants, Coastal Cabana for the blanket, Early Espresso and Cajun Craze for the puppy, Flirty Flamingo for the pillows and cup, Calypso Coral for the sox, Rich Razzleberry for the bed and Crushed Curry, Basic Gray for the book, Daffodil Delight & Cajun Craze for her hair.

After coloring, I used a blender pen to smooth and blend the color in each section. I wiped the excess color from the blender pen with a paper towel before starting the next section to keep the colors from bleeding. I adhered the panel to a Night of Navy mat when finished. I stamped the sentiment from the Enjoy the Moment stamp set on the side of a strip of Vellum using Night of navy ink and let it dry – Vellum takes a little longer to dry and you can use your heat tool to speed it up if needed. I adhered the Vellum to the back of the matted art panel after it dried.

I adhered the pretty Abstract Beauty specialty designer series paper to the front of a Just Jade card base with liquid glue and adhered a folded strip of Just Jade gingham ribbon to the front with glue dots where the sentiment would be. I adhered the layered art panel to the card front with dimensionals under the card stock and used a glue dot behind the sentiment.

For the inside of the card, I stamped the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! In The Moment stamp set in Crumb Cake ink on the side of a Basic White panel. I trimmed the bottom with a strip of embossed Kraft paper and adhered the panel to the inside of the card with Stampin’ Seal. I finished the card front with a small Gilded Gem to pick up the gold foil accents in the pretty DSP.

I think the Stampin’ Up! In The Moment stamp set will definitely be a favorite. This pretty set and the beautiful Artistic Beauty specialty DSP will be available in the upcoming new January – June 2022 Mini Catalog when it goes live on January 4, 2022. Try using different coloring techniques for your images! It changes things up and keeps stamping fun!

Here’s a picture of the pretty stamp set and the DSP. A note about the Abstract Beauty specialty DSP – it is a new size!! It will come in a 4″ x 6″ size with 48 sheets of 12 different double sided designs, and one side will have touches of gold foil! And it’s so pretty!! Remember the date – January 4, 2022!

Stampin’ Up! Seaside View Video Tutorial

Happy February! This is the card I made during my Facebook Live video tutorial yesterday afternoon featuring the Stampin’ Up! Seaside View cling stamp set in a card with a watercolor technique on the pretty image. And it was a perfect time for a dreamy beach scene, as it started snowing just before I went live. You can find the supplies I used at the bottom of my post along with the sizes of cardstock used.

Here is the Facebook Live video showing how I made the card:

I posted a copy of the video in my YouTube channel here so you can view it there if you prefer.

I embossed a Soft Sea Foam panel with the Seabed 3D embossing folder and adhered it to the front of a Soft Sea Foam card base. I adhered a panel of weathered wood from the In Good Taste designer series paper across the front and wrapped it twice with linen thread and made a bow.

I stamped the chair, trees and birds from the Stampin’ Up! Seaside View stamp set using Stazon ink on watercolor paper. I cut it out with the largest stitched square from the Stitched Shapes dies. I drew a line with a pencil for the horizon and colored the image in sections with the small water painter and inks. For the sand, sea and sky, I first brushed the section with the water painter to moisten the watercolor paper. Then I dabbed the ink on a stamp block and pulled some ink to mix with water from the water painter. The ink comes out dark at first and then lightens as more water flows through the water painter. I used Sahara Sand on the sand, Balmy Blue on the sky and Pacific Point and Bermuda Bay for the water. When I painted the water, I started with a dark Pacific Point line over the pencil line on the horizon and gradually shifted to Bermuda Bay by the shore. I also used Garden Green and Soft Suede inks for the trees and Cinnamon Cider and Daffodil Delight inks for the drink

I adhered the dried image to the card front with dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! Seaside View stamp set in Versamark Ink and sprinkled it with white embossing powder. I heat set the embossing powder until it was shiny and cut the sentiment out with the long sentiment die from the Always dies. I pulled some Braided linen trim widthwise so it would be thicker and adhered it to the back of the label with glue dots. I adhered the layered label to the front of the card with dimensionals and finished off the card front with some sequins.

For the inside, I stamped the tree in Stazon ink on a Basic White panel. I colored the tree like the card front, but used my blender pen instead of the water painter, as I wanted the color to be more intense and I didn’t want to mess up the card stock. I adhered a strip of In Good Taste DSP to the bottom and adhered the panel to the inside of the card.

The water coloring is slow, so I only colored portions of the image during the video. Afterwards, I finished the image I was working on, so I have it pictured here with the card I made. All the images in the Stampin’ Up! Seaside View stamp set would be great watercolored, and it’s relaxing and fun. Why not give it a try?

Stampin’ Up! So Much Love Card

Good Morning! Today I have a pretty floral card made with the pretty Stampin’ Up! So Much Love cling stamp set. I had so much fun watercoloring the Grace’s Garden card last weekend that I wanted to bring out the water painters and use them again. Today’s technique is a little different though in that I embossed the image with gold embossing powder before watercoloring. What do you think? You can find the supplies used to create this card at the bottom of my post along with the sizes of cardstock used.

I stamped the flower from the Stampin’ Up! So Much Love stamp set in Versamark ink on a panel of watercolor paper. I sprinkled it with gold embossing powder and heat set until it was shiny. I colored the flower with Melon Mambo ink using the fine tipped water painter and used a bit of Daffodil Delight for the flower center. I colored the leaves in Pear Pizzazz. I fussy cut the flower with my paper snips after it was dry. Here’s a close-up of the flower so you can see the gold embossing.

I colored the flower one petal at a time, starting at the darkest part of each petal and pulling the color outward to cover the entire petal. The watercolor paper does not absorb the color very fast, so you have time to move it as you go over the petal and the color will bleed and blend wherever the paper is wet. The color also gets lighter as you go. The embossed lines help contain the water, so that it’s easier to ‘stay in the lines’.

I adhered a panel of Peony Garden designer series paper to a Whisper White mat and popped it on the front of a Pear Pizzazz card base. I cut a Whisper White panel with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and ran it through the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder. I stamped the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! So Much Love stamp set in Gray Granite ink and cut it out with the smaller die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. I adhered the dies together and adhered them to the card front.

I adhered some gold foil leaves from the Forever Gold laser cut specialty paper with glue dots and popped the watercolored flower on top with dimensionals. I made bows with the polka dot tulle ribbon and gold thread and tied them together with more gold thread and adhered them to the card front. I finished it off with three gold enamel gems.

I stamped the flower again in Melon Mambo ink after stamping off three times on a Whisper White panel. I trimmed the bottom with a strip of the Peony Garden DSP and adhered the panel to the inside of the card.

I had the old Stampin’ Up! Birthday Blooms stamp set that I must have made a dozen birthday cards with using this watercolor technique! That flower had to be fussy cut too, and it is a bit intensive but the results are really pretty!!

Stampin’ Up! Grace’s Garden Watercolor Friendship Card Video Tutorial

Good Morning! Today I’m sharing a friendship card using the Stampin’ Up! Grace’s Garden photopolymer stamp set and Garden Gateway Dies that I made during my Facebook Live video tutorial yesterday afternoon. I CASE’d a card from the annual catalog because it uses a watercolor with ink technique to color the images and I was excited to try out my new water painters! You can find the supplies used to create this project at the bottom of my post along with the sizes of cardstock used.

Here is the Facebook Live video showing how I made card:

I also posted the video to my YouTube Channel and you can view it here if you prefer.

I die cut a panel of Shimmery White with the third largest Stitched Rectangles Dies and used the large brush water painter to create a color wash with Pool Party on top and Old Olive on the bottom. I flattened the panel by placing it in a folded sheet of typing paper and ironing it, since the watercoloring caused it to warp.

I stamped the garden gate from the Stampin’ Up! Grace’s Garden photopolymer stamp set using Stazon Jet Black ink on Shimmery White card stock. I also stamped three of the tall flower clusters and two of the medium flower clusters. I cut out all the elements with the coordinating dies from the Garden Gateway Dies. Using the fine tip water painter, I colored the gate with Cinnamon Cider ink and the flowers with Highland Heather, Terracotta Tile, Bumblebee and Granny Apple Green inks.

I cut a panel of Pool Party from the Subtles 6″ x 6″ designer series paper pack with the third largest Stitched Rectangles Dies and adhered it offset to the back of the watercolored background with Stampin’ Seal. I adhered the gate and one of the tall flowers to the panel with Stampin’ Seal and popped another tall flower cluster and the shorter flowers on with dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment on a panel of Shimmery White card stock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, trimmed the bottom and adhered it to the panel with Stampin’ Seal. I embossed a panel of Pool Party with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder and adhered it to the front of a Pool Party card base. I popped the layered watercolor panel on with dimensionals and finished the card with three Terracotta Tile butterflies.

I saved two flower clusters for the inside of the card, so I adhered them to the bottom of a Whisper White panel and adhered the panel to the inside of the card.

The Stampin’ Up! Grace’s Garden bundle is such a sweet set and is beautiful when watercolored! I haven’t used the watercolor technique in a long time and while it was a bit messier, it was a lot of fun. And I really like the new Stampin’ Up! water painters! I’m already planning which flower stamps to watercolor in the coming weeks!
