Good Morning and welcome to Simple Stampin’ Saturday! There are so many beautiful designer series papers in the current catalogs and one of the quickest ways to make a card is to make the DSP the focal point of your card. Simply cut it down to size, add a label with a few embellishments and presto! you have a beautiful card. Here’s today’s card to show you how. You can find the supplies used to create this card at the bottom of my post along with the sizes of cardstock used.

I adhered a panel of the Stampin’ Up! Berry Blessings DSP to a Basic White mat. I adhere it to a mat to give it a little stiffness before popping it onto a Blackberry Bliss card base with dimensionals. Using dimensionals to pop the panel off the card base makes it a little more elegant and special. But wait! Before adhering it to the card base, Wrap a length of Blackberry Bliss ribbon around it and secure it in the back. Then apply your dimensionals and adhere it to the card base.

The next element is your label. Once you determine what sentiment you want to use, find a die or a punch that fits the sentiment. Stamp the sentiment and cut or punch it out. For my card, I wanted it to be a Birthday card, so I used the sentiment from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set and stamped it in Blackberry Bliss ink on Basic White. I cut it out with the Stitched So Sweetly dies. To make a really nice label, make it a double layer with a contrasting card stock like the Blackberry Bliss die cut I used here. Choose a punch or die that is slightly larger than your label. There are lots of punches and dies that give you options for layering your label. And if nothing fits your sentiment, simply cut rectangles with your paper cutter and layer them. And again, for extra elegance, pop it on your pretty designer series paper with dimensionals!

For the final touch, add some embellishments! I used Purple Posy resin dots for my card, but you can use anything you have in your stash – rhinestones, pearls, sequins – that looks pretty with your designer series paper. Try to use odd numbers – that seems to be a design rule.

Next is the inside of the card. If you have an inside sentiment, that’s great use it. Sometimes you want to leave the inside without a sentiment so you have plenty of room to write a message, and that’s ok. If you have stamps that match your designer series paper, go ahead and use them. For my card, I used the sentiment and blackberry stamps from the Stampin’ Up! Berry Blessings stamp set. I stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss and the berries and leaves in Rich Razzleberry (after stamping off twice for a softer look) and Granny Apple Green on a Basic White panel. If you don’t have coordinating stamps, add a strip of the designer series paper to the bottom (like I did), or the side, or cut out one of the motifs from the designer series paper and adhere it to your inside panel. Then adhere the inside panel to the inside of your card.

I don’t usually decorate my envelopes, but many stampers insist it’s a must have. If you have stamps that coordinate with your designer series paper, you can stamp on the envelope like I did. If you don’t, you can easily add a panel of your pretty designer series paper to the flap. Apply liquid glue to the outside edge of the envelope, adhere the DSP and cut the excess using the envelope flap as a guide. Or if you happen to have a die to cut out an envelope liner, that’s a fabulous way to make a special matching envelope!
I hope you like my simple card featuring the Stampin’ Up! Berry Blessings stamp set and designer series paper. And I hope you decide to use up your beautiful designer series paper on cards to share with those you love. Remember – beautiful DSP makes beautiful cards! So don’t be afraid to use it up!
